Mountainside Real Estate

Mountainside is a borough in New Jersey Union County with a population of 6,685. Mountainside was ranked the 16th best place to live in 2008 by the New Jersey Monthly Magazine and in 2010, it was 8th on the list. Mountainside Borough is bordered to the east by Springfield Township, to the west by Scotch Plains and Berkeley Heights, to the north by Summit and to the south by Westfield.

Public school students in pre-kindergarten and through 8th grade are served by the Mountainside School District through Beechwood School and Deerfield School. Grades 9 through 12 attend Governor Livingston High School, which is part of an exchange program with schools in Berkeley Heights.

The Trailside Nature & Science Center hosts educational activities for children, which include nature exploration and history.

Transport services are provided by New Jersey Transit by routes 114 and 117, which go through Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal and routes 65 and 66, which go through downtown Newark. On the east of mountainside, about 11 miles away, is Newark International Airport.

Mountainside offers residents a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere with significantly low taxes when compared to neighboring towns. Watchung Reservation provides locals with a wonderful nature park complete with a playground for children.

Shopping and other recreational activities are mostly done in Westfield or Summit. Scotch Plains and Cranford are wonderful places to live for both singles and large families who want to take advantage of its low taxes and beautiful scenery.
